I hope everyone is having a happy and enjoyable summer. We are looking forward to a great beginning to our 2019-2020 year. We had a great turn out at our May luncheon at the Mays Landing Country Club. One of our special guests included Steve Beatty, our NJEA Secretary/Treasurer and NJREA liaison. Also Jim Jamison from the research department spoke about health benefits and answered many questions from our members.
As always, our GR members were very busy attending many of our lobby days in Trenton. The ACREA Officers and Executive Committee continue to work very hard to open up lines of communication with our members. Members of our Exec- utive Committee attended the ACCEA Retirement Luncheon in June to recruit our new retirees. We should encourage our former colleagues to join the NJREA and its affiliates, ACREA and NEA.
So, what is the magic formula for figuring out what to do after retirement? As I said once before, we can ask ourselves what we do best or what we want to try. Many of us did not have the luxury of asking ourselves that question while we were actively pursuing our careers.. Children, mortgages and many other obliga- tions were a priority. There are many groups and organizations, both profit and non-profit, to help us find our niche. One in particular is the ACREA. Get in- volved by joining a county or state committee or lending a hand when called upon to take action with our legislators. We appreciate any time or effort from our members!
